Keira Legge is 12 years old, in the 7th grade. She has published three stories in LITTLE THOUGHTS PRESS magazine - Christmas Countdown, The Leaf and Perfect Pumpkin. Keira also helped her mother in writing the picture book THE COMFTY SPOT. The story is based off of Keira, so she helped read through it, add and edit the manuscript.
1. What do you like to write and read?
I love dystopian books. I have read The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner series. I would like to write a dystopian some day, but right now I write fun, fiction short stories.
2. What is your favorite subject in school?
I enjoy science the most. In English I don’t have as much creative freedom so it is not my favorite in school right now.
3. Who is your favorite author?
Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games is my favorite right now. I have also loved Lauren Magazine as an author. She is the author that inspired my love of reading and writing.
4. What inspires you?
Life around me. All my stories’ themes have something to do with my life, something I am learning about or something that has impacted me in some way.
5. Do you play music while writing?
No, I need silence to write, so I can hear the story in my head. The music would stop me from hearing the story in my mind.
6. Do you prefer ebooks, printed books, or audiobooks?
I am busy with after-school activities and will listen to audiobooks, but I prefer a printed book. I like to hear the characters myself.
7. If you could describe yourself in three words, what would those be?
Athletic, Kind, Creative.
8. Do you write on the computer or freehand?
I prefer the computer. I will go into the little office, close the door so it is quiet, and type my stories.
Thank you, Keira, for your fantastic interview! You can find some of Keira's stories on The Little Thoughts Press blog. Soon, Lit Kids Magazine will also feature her fiction in our very 1st issue: Favorite Things!
